Barack Obama takes 0$ from Lobbyists and PACs
A PAC is a Political Action Committee. A group of people who get together often under a single issue or group of issues. The Association of Trial Lawyers of America is a PAC, for instance, and MoveOn.org. They can raise tremendous sums of money.
When it comes time for the President to write bills, however, the PAC is standing on the doorsill.
Lobbyists are similar. But they don't stand in the doorway, they breathe down a president's neck. And in the case of Bush and Cheney, they often write the legislation themselves!
Our candidates can not be beholden to lobbying efforts by corporations. The President is elected by the people to represent them. Not pharmaceutical interests. Not insurance company interests. And most especially, not the military-industrial complex.
Unfortunately, Senator Clinton has now received more money from corporations whose business is war than any other candidate in history! Yep. More the George Bush!
In addition, Obama has introduced bills in Illinois to effectively curb political fraud:
Senator Obama introduced the Deceptive Practices and Voter Intimidation Prevention Act to enable investigations into deceptive practices. It establishes significant harsh penalties for those who have engaged in fraud and it provides voters who have been misinformed with accurate and full information so they can vote.
